publication plan

Third Phase Transition: Solving the Anthropocene Crisis, will embrace two parts, divided in seven books, apart from the freely downloadable  Preface & Introduction found at this site, which frames the problem in a natural historic context.

The seven books will cover the origins and characteristics of the Anthropocene crisis, as well as the possibilities opened by it.

Part I will deal with twentieth century history, its character as phase transition in socio-natural co-evolution, and how it produced the Anthropocene crisis.

Part II will discuss preconditions and prospects of a solution.

ABSTRACT CAPITAL: Causing and Driving the Anthropocene Crisis

ABSTRACT: Capitalism is disintegrating. Capital abstraction is causing industrial repulsion. By 1900, large development blocks of standardised mass production in a few countries had developed surplus capacity. As a defence reaction against threatened profit rates, capital monopolised. Protectionism proceeded, by exiling accumulation proper from the core of capital formation. Fusion of credit and capitalisation formed associated abstract capital. Unlike capitalist organic exploitation, it was parasitically mechanic. In this first recombination, the capitalist mode of production was reduced to capitalisation basis, and excluded world labour was degraded to an aggregate basis of rapacious appropriation. Two world wars, fought over the conditions of global rapacious appropriation, brought a second recombination, in which industrial repulsion was expressed as maximised mass production for maximised mass destruction. By conseqence, this formed the breakthrough of standardised mass consumption as capitalisation basis. In a third post-war recombination, the capitalisation states associated rent-seeking around the US standards of rapacious appropriation by interventionism, of capitalising standardised mass consumption, and of depleting industrial exploitation. Industrial repulsion ran throughout the OECD, managed by a virtual multicurrency. Stability to this temporary restoration of disintegrating capitalism was lent by the labour states, rapaciously appropriating the entire product of their contained obligatory wage labour. As the multicurrency discipline and the labour states broke down, the fourth recombination resulted, in which industrial repulsion went global, as capital abstraction became absolute – globally associating as capitalisation of already abstract capital. Disintegrating capitalism’s self-liquidation inflated, as vaporization of absolutely abstract value, threatening to liquidate society and terrestrial life as we know it. By completing disintegration of its exploitation system, capital had been associating humanity’s circumstances in the Anthropocene crisis.

SOCIAL MUTINY: Revolution's General Form

ABSTRACTHuman nature is cooperative. It evolves within nature, as self-organised right of association. Under civilisations linear metabolism, society developed capacity for accumulating material surplus. With means of cooperation still being scarce, class society and its exploitation of the soil, by exploitation of human labour, developed into the second metabolic phase of socio-natural co-evolution – linear metabolism. Right of association became minoritarian and monopolised. Social mutiny of the labouring majority turned endemic. During the past century, means of cooperation have developed in great acceleration. They are becoming abundant. Remaining under control of abstract capital, which has alienated itself from human evolution, they deplete the resilience of the earth system, and frustrate the human needs awoken by affluent cooperative means. Social mutiny becomes mature to dissolve outlived class society. It ended World War I. It ended colonial empires. Black liberation movements in South Africa and the US, the Polish Solidarity revolution 1970-1971 triggering the fall of Communism, and present globalisation of social mutiny against the Anthropocene crisis, are all majoritarian, egalitarian, and self-organising. Social mutiny needs to rapidly find its common organising principle: Globally generalised right of association, transcending monopolisation of Earth’s resources, and the corruption of politics. It needs to generalise concrete principles of how to conquer the means of cooperation, turning them from serving destructive forces into solving the Anthropocene crisis, by making them a common human right.
